Tom Lonergan: 

I remember it was a great group of kids and we had a blast that summer. Also remember Pete chasing a rogue bat around the inside of the cabin with a broom. Scared the shit out of us :-)

Yep, Cabin 6, 1971

We had some characters.

Pete was the waterfront director that year, great swimmer, I was into competitive swimming then too. And he had something to do with the water skiing in the little yellow boat with the 40 horse motor. Seems like a couple years later I was part of an escapade that paddled it out a ways and fired it up for a joy ride in the middle of the night.

"George from Valley Forge" Boinis was freaking funny, and a good basketball player who came back for at least another couple years. He's the guy on the far right front row.He did the rhyme thing with his humor lots.

Steve Braken is the top row, middle camper next to Pete. He and I went on a 5-day hitch hike up to the tall peaks and back packed for 5 days after...maybe the CIT year?

He peeled off camper/counselor mode after the CIT year and worked in the kitchen. 

Mike Shulevitz "shoe full of shitz" was a great sailor. I was his crew in all the  sailing races against other camps and we won all of them. By quite a distance. He was ruthless, we'd round a mark far in the lead and he'd head towards the other boats and push them off course yelling "right of way". It was awesome!!

And, right you are Tom, the bat issue, I was in the cabin, seems like it was after lunch? Pete went after that thing like he was playing lacrosse. Finally whacked it out the door.

Mike Rush:  

Hey Tim, did you and Bracken do the 5-day hike during the Timlo season or off season? I ask because I'm sure the Dan Koenig or whoever was head counselor that year would have freaked out if you two were awol for that long.

Don Currie also went for a little "boat ride" in 76 or 77 and was kicked out of camp - there is no justice!

Tom Lonergan:

Hey Tim about your boat ride, I went on a nighttime water ski jaunt to the other side of the lake. Perhaps you were on that one as well. I think it was a Canadian named Steve May that instigated it. I'll never forget it though. I couldn't see May skiing, but I could see the slalom spray he was kicking up in the moonlight. It was incredible but glad we didn't get caught. For some ridiculous reason I went along for the ride. Maybe I was a spotter.
