Richard (Shorty) Bierau:
Jim was a very good teacher, particularly of the young campers. One mild morning, we watched him take three Cabin 1 age campers out on a Comet. They were "In port" for an hour, rigging the boat. They completed all the work and sailed it away themselves. Jim never touched a thing.

Katherine Gallagher Wright: Lex Birney!!! In the summer of 1973, I had the biggest crush on him. I was only 14, but I was convinced I would one day marry him!

Jim Sedgwick: I came up with the name "Lighthouse" because of the nautical implications. But "lighthouses" at Timlo were the bathrooms in the woods where the lights were always on. Bob Bear the leader had an incredible repertoire. Next to him is Lex Birney who could play anything on guitar and h
1973 Lighthouse Band - Continued
Jim Sedgwick: Behind Ken is Chris Gallagher who had a terrific singing voice I which was envious of. Thanks to Shorty for his kind words about my hideous performance of Dueling Banjos. Lex accompanied me on guitar that night and was horrified by my disastrous banjo playing on that duet. But as Lex would say - just play louder and no one will notice. Mark and Ri
